Donahoe Begins Interviewing For Gm Position With Seahawks
A fatigued Tom Donahoe arrived in Seattle on Wednesday afternoon to begin the two-to-three day interview process for the Seahawks general manager’s job.
Team president Bob Whitsitt picked him up at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and they were inseparable for the rest of the day.
Whitsitt late Wednesday night labeled the first meeting “positive.” The interview will continue later today with a possible visit with Seahawks owner Paul Allen.
If things progress well enough, Donahoe, the Steelers director of football operations, may stay around town until Friday.
“The only thing unfortunate for Tom was it was a little bit of a media circus once he arrived at the airport,” Whitsitt said.
A couple of television camera crews greeted Donahoe at the airport, not exactly what he was hoping for after spending nine hours in planes and airport terminals.
“I’ve been on a plane for nine hours,” Donahoe told the local television stations. “I have an open mind and we’re anxious to sit down and talk about a lot of factors.”
Among other topics, Whitsitt will seek opinions about the Dennis Erickson coaching staff and whether Donahoe will want to make a coaching change if he is hired.
