Berry Tasty
Back east, “marionberry” may conjure images of a mayor who got in trouble. But we Northwesterners know it’s a tasty, sweet/tart blackberry variety that’s native to Oregon.
Mt. Hood Marionberry, sweetened with white grape juice concentrate, is one of several fruit spreads made without preservatives, refined sugar or sodium by 74-year-old Gloria Sample in Lake Oswego, Ore.
For something so healthy, it’s sinfully good.
Price: $5.50-$7 for 11 ounces.
Available: In Spokane at Gloria Jean’s Gourmet Coffees, 4750 N. Division, and at the Albertson’s supermarkets at Southgate and Wandermere Mall, or by mail order; for a free catalog, call 1-800-782-5881.
