Ranchers’ Rights Bill Sent To Governor

From Staff And Wire Reports

It will be up to Gov. Phil Batt to decide whether grazing permits on public land should be considered private property.

After lengthy debate, the Senate voted 24-9 Thursday to send the ranchers’ rights bill to Batt.

Sen. Robbi King, R-Glenns Ferry, said the bill would merely reassert ranchers’ rights as outlined in the Taylor Grazing Act, which allows grazing on public land and allows ranchers to buy and sell their leased permits.
