Campaign ‘98
Is that a medical procedure? Or the new model sedan?
Thinking we would give the voters a new look at politicians, we asked candidates to deal with this election season as if they were applying for a job with the people. To that end we asked candidates to submit resumes.
Some of the candidates must not be too worried about getting hired. Consider these answers:
“What’s a resume?”
“I just don’t understand why you are doing this.”
“As far as education, well I don’t think that should matter.”
“My 18-month-old grandson lost the letter so mine will be late.”
“I don’t see why you are doing this anyway. It’s not so much applying for a job (with the voters). It’s the luck of the draw.”
Just what do you mean by disadvantage?
Talk about lobbing Chenoweth critics a softball without really trying. U.S. Term Limits took to its podium this week to take jabs at Idaho House Speaker and wannabe Congressman Mike Simpson for refusing to sign a pledge to only stay in office for three terms. Simpson refused on the grounds that such limitations are bad news for the famous potato state’s political clout. But U.S. Rep. Helen Chenoweth has long said she’s only staying three terms, the term limits sales reps rejoined. “Does Mr. Simpson believe that Helen Chenoweth is putting Idaho at a serious disadvantage?” U.S. Term Limits asked.
Liberal bias
Helen, meanwhile, showed a tiny crack in her conservative facade. When a reporter kidded her for quoting John F. Kennedy, Chenoweth replied that she loves “to read the speeches of Kennedy more than anyone else.” Ask not what your black helicopter fleet can do for you, but what you can do for your black helicopter fleet?
