Pools Drawn For State Play

High school volleyball

Ferris, the No. 1 seed from Region IV, was grouped with Bethel, Cascade (Everett) and Auburn in Pool C, in Saturday’s drawings for the state volleyball tournament beginning Friday at the Arena.

Second-seeded Shadle Park is in Pool A, along with Puyallup, Bothell and Decatur. Third-seeded Lewis and Clark joins Prairie, Kent-Meridian and Auburn-Riverside in Pool B.

In the 2A tourney at Yakima, the region’s No. 1 seed, Newport, is grouped with Omak, Blaine and Castle Rick in Pool C. Colville, the No. 2 seed, finds itself in Pool D, along with Eatonville, Kiona-Benton and Ridgefield. Third-seeded Lakeside (Nine Mile) is in Pool B with Woodland, Orting and Grandview.

In the 1A tourney at Chelan, top-seeded Colfax will square off against Warden, Tacoma Baptist and Kalama in Pool D. Second-seeded Freeman will try to advance out of Pool B, along with Okanogan, La Center and Lynden Christian.

In the B tourney at Eastern Washington University, District 7 top seed Wilbur-Creston drew Pool B, as did LaConner, Willapa Valley and Moses Lake Christian. St. John-Endicott, District 9’s top seed, along with District 7’s third-seeded Davenport will play in Pool A. Rounding out the foursome are Napavine and Summit. Odessa, the No. 3 seed from District 7, joins Naselle, Orcas and Wilson Creek in Pool C.
