City Tree-Planting Program Planned
The city will hold a memorial tree planting on Oct. 24 starting at 9 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery.
The public will have the opportunity to purchase and plant a tree at the cemetery or in city parks in memory of a person, group or organization or in celebration of a special event. Granite plaques will be placed at the base of each tree to designate the memorialized people or items.
The Post Falls Parks Department and Urban Forester Nolan Phillips will plant and maintain the trees. Dillon Sostrom, a Boy Scout, is working with Phillips on the project as part of his Eagle Scout requirements.
Eleven trees will be planted at the cemetery and two at city parks. The public and particularly people who have purchased the memorial trees are invited to attend the planting and may assist with planting their trees.
For more information, call Phillips at 773-0539.
