Spotlight: Billiards

Players from five states and Canada, including several professionals, are expected Saturday and Sunday for the bi-annual Spokane Open 9-Ball Tournament at McQ’s Billiards, 9614 E. Sprague.

Competition begins at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday, with the championship match about 4 p.m. Sunday. Top prize is $1,500.

Among those expected are Dan Louie of Mercer Island, a former two-time collegiate champion at Washington State; Brady Golan, a former world-ranked player and many-time finalist at McQ’s; and Paul Potier of Vancouver, British Columbia, a nationally ranked player and trick-shot specialist.
