Produce expected to be available this week at area farmer’s markets (shop early for best selection):
Spokane MarketPlace (Wednesdays and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., First and Jefferson downtown): Various lettuces, salad mix, assorted herbs (available cut to order), radishes, green onions, string beans (green, purple, yellow), cucumbers, spinach, garlic, mushrooms, mustard greens, bok choy, chard, red and blue curly kale, leeks, assorted peppers (bell, sweet and hot), various tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, squash (several varieties), potatoes (12 varieties), kohlrabi, carrots, red beets, broccoli, sweet corn, edible flowers, honey, peaches, nectarines, plums (several varieties), apples, pears (regular and Asian), pumpkins (regular and baby), watermelon, cantaloupe, muskmelon, blackberries.
Kootenai County Farmer’s Market (Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Highway 95 and Prairie Avenue in Coeur d’Alene): Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet onions, leeks, corn, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, squash, peppers, tomatoes, elephant heart plums, melons, Jonagold apples.
Sandpoint Farmer’s Market (Wednesdays 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon, at Farmin Park, Third and Main): Assorted snap beans, various lettuces, salad mix, green onions, shallots, leeks, garlic, assorted herbs, edible flowers, new potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers (slicing and pickling), cabbage (including napa), green peppers, eggplant, summer and winter squash, carrots, turnips, tomatoes (including cherry), tomatillos, corn, apples, pears, baby pumpkins, plums, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and huckleberries.
