Pf Game Never Gets Off Ground

Tom Skierka Correspondent

The Post Falls homecoming football game with Nampa was cancelled Saturday afternoon because of fog.

Nampa’s flight to Spokane was grounded and the game will not be rescheduled.

“It’s too bad,” said Trojans coach Jeff Choate. “We feel like a bride jilted at the alter.”

Prior to the cancellation, Post Falls held a parade, the booster club threw a tailgate party and the homecoming dance was scheduled for after the game.

Coaches from Nampa and Post Falls tried to reschedule the afternoon game for 6 p.m. but Nampa’s travel problems persisted.

“We were packed and ready to go,” said Nampa coach Greg Dawidzck. “We spent five hours at the airport. We heard over the loud speaker that the plane missed the runway and went straight for Spokane. We attempted to charter a bus there and could have made it in time for the evening game, but it was a question of how to get back.”

One arrangement of getting home would have been to fly half the team back on Sunday and the other half on Monday. But the airlines couldn’t guarantee a flight.

“It was a real mess,” said Dawidzck.”There was a chance that some of the players and coaches wouldn’t be able to return until Tuesday.”

Post Falls will celebrate its homecoming next week against Chewelah.
