Top returners: George Klontz, senior, shot put/long jump; Jacob Witcraft, junior, distances; Shannon Decker, sr., lj/sprints/relays; Ashley Ruen, sophomore, hurdles/relays; Brianna Montgomery, soph., middle distances/relays.

Top newcomer: Brent Stutzke, soph., high jump/middle sprints.

Outlook: Klontz took fourth in shot at state last year and should contend for a top-three placing. Stutzke put the golf clubs away to turn out for track. Ross has high hopes for Decker and Ruen.

Falls Christian Eagles

Coaches: Ivan Benson

Top returners: Ben Danforth, soph., sprints/relays; Charlie Dowers, jr., relays/sprints; Clint Griffin, jr., sprints; Joe Mitchell, sr., middle distances; Jake Alger, jr., middle distances; Melanie Johnson, sr., sprints/jumps.

Top newcomers: Cameron Davis, jr., sprints; Eric Frickle, jr., distances.

Outlook: It’s the best and the worst of times at FCA. The Eagles have 22 boys, the biggest turnout ever. But just five girls are out, four of whom are freshmen. The boys hope to contend for a district title.

Kootenai Warriors

Coaches: Mandy Love

Top returners: Scott Johns, sr., sprints/lj; Doug Ott, sr., sprints/lj; Chad Parsons, sr., 300 hurdles/tj/400; Tony Stumps, sr., pole vault; Mark Finney, sr., sprints/relays; Derrick Palmiter, sr., distances; Emily Anderson, sr., throws; Shenelle Kraack, sr., hurdles/tj/relays; Katy Doney, jr., hj/sprints.

Top newcomers: Tess Collins, freshman, hj; Tom Reinhardt, fr., sprints/lj.

Outlook: Annie Goodson, the most versatile athlete in recent history in the NSL, has graduated. Goodson captured 15 state medals and three state titles. The question is who will emerge from her shadow this year. The Warriors have a few prospects.
