Cda Tribe Donates $580,000 To Schools

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe gave $580,000 in gambling profits to North Idaho schools on Tuesday.

The money will be used to improve education for Indian and non-Indian students under the tribe’s agreement to donate 5 percent of the revenue from the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Bingo-Casino to schools, marketing director Laura Stensgar said.

This year, the Coeur d’Alene Tribal School received $280,000, Plummer-Worley School District was given $245,000, St. Maries School District received $15,000 and North Idaho College was awarded $40,000 to develop its on-campus cultural center.

“We’ve made a commitment in an investment to education for all,” Stensgar said. “If we invest within our schools, it also will reflect on our community, our tribe and this area.”

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe has given $1.04 million to schools since the gambling hall opened six years ago.
