Washington State stranded 13 runners, committed three errors and lost its 11th consecutive Pacific-10 Conference baseball game Friday night, falling to UCLA 7-4 at the Bruins’ Jackie Robinson Memorial Stadium in Westwood, Calif.

The defeat was the 15th in 18 games for the Cougars (18-20, 1-12 Pac-10), who couldn’t solve the offerings of UCLA starter and winner Jon Brandt (7-3) until the sixth inning, when Ray Hattenburg hit his sixth home run of the year - a solo shot - to give WSU its first run.

The Cougars added three more runs and chased Brandt an inning later when Jason Groves drilled a two-run double and Jeff Scherer added a run-scoring single.

Bryan Williamson had four hits, including a home run and double, and drove in three runs as Washington (26-12, 8-5 Pac-10) stretched its winning streak to seven with a 10-7 Pac-10 win over visiting Oregon State (14-29, 2-11).

David Hixson struck out 16, scattered five hits and allowed only two earned runs as Community Colleges of Spokane drilled Blue Mountain 10-4 in an NWAACC Eastern Division game at Spokane Falls CC.

Hixson raised his record to 4-1, getting offensive help from Aaron Vandarwarka and Devron Carriere, who each had two hits and two RBIs.

Softball

Community Colleges of Spokane’s Stephani Shelton had three hits and scored twice and teammate Jessica Sackmann added three hits and drove in two runs as the visiting Sasquatch split a NWAACC doubleheader with Edmonds Community College.

CCS, which raised its Eastern Division-leading record to 14-2, won the opener 6-2 as Kylee Curry scattered eight hits and did not allow an earned run.

Lydia Turner was the hard-luck loser in the nightcap, dropping a 3-2 decision despite striking out four and allowing only four hits.
