UI Faculty Earn Awards For Research, Teaching

Eight University of Idaho faculty members have been named recipients of the 1999 Awards for Excellence in research or creative activity, teaching and outreach. They will receive a plaque and cash award of $2,500, $3,750 or $5,000.

Honorees and their awards are listed by category.

Excellence in Teaching: Elizabeth Brandt, professor of law, $5,000 winner; Martha J. Einerson, associate professor of communication, $2,500; and James Foster, associate professor of computer science, $2,500.

Excellence in Research or Creative Activity Award: Jeanne McHale, professor of chemistry, $5,000 winner; Matthew J. Morra, professor of soil science, $2,500; and Brian Dennis, professor of wildlife resources and statistics, $2,500.

Presented for the first time this year is the Excellence in Outreach Award. Recipients are: Deborah Frincke, assistant professor of computer science, $3,750; and Janice Fletcher, associate professor of education, $3,750 winner.

The University of Idaho will recognize employees, staff and retired staff at an awards ceremony next month at the Student Union Building Ballroom. Recipients and their awards are listed by employee category.

Technical/Paraprofessional: Janice Jones, budget specialist, Agricultural Administrative Services; Temple Kinyon, program advisor, Alumni Office; Dennis Lincks, student information specialist, Registrar’s Office; Tammie Dahmen, budget specialist, Budget Office.

Classified Exempt: Jane Baillargeon, program evaluation analyst, Program Review and Assessment.

Non-Faculty Exempt: Mary Jean Craig, extension associate, 4-H Youth, State 4-H Office; Cindy Johnson, associate director, Information Technology Services, Printing and Design; Gloria Workman, nurse practitioner, Student Health Services; Alice Pope Barbut, director, Cooperative Education.

Off-Campus Employees: Fred Wise, utility craftsman, Parma Research and Extension Center; Beverly June Thomas, research technician, Parma Research and Extension Center.

Secretarial/Clerical: Chris Dixon, administrative assistant, Environmental Science; Rebecca Huffman, office specialist 2, Electrical Engineering; Kathleen Mallory, administrative assistant 1, Range Resources; Suzanne Scripter, account clerk, Business and Accounting Services.
