Man Was Likely Alive When Struck By Car
Autopsy results show that a Coeur d’Alene man was likely alive when he was hit by a car early Thursday, the Idaho State Police reported.
Robert N. Kelley, 42, was lying face down in the westbound lane of Harbor Island Road at 1 a.m. Thursday when a 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit driven by a Post Falls teenager came around a curve and hit him. Kelley died at the scene.
The 17-year-old boy told police he couldn’t stop in time to avoid hitting Kelley. After hitting him, he went directly to the Post Falls Police Department and reported the incident, the ISP said.
It did not appear that the teenager had been drinking, the ISP said.
Authorities do not have results yet from drug and alcohol tests performed on Kelley.
