Senate Youth Program Seeking Applicants
High school student officers are eligible to apply for the U.S. Senate Youth Program, which will bring two students from each state to the nation’s capitol this spring for an intensive week of studying government.
Students must be junior or senior elected student officers for the 1999-2000 school year, and must live in the state where they attend school. They’ll spend a week visiting Capitol Hill, the White House, the Supreme Court and more, and will also receive $2,000 college scholarships and meet with government leaders and policy makers. The program runs March 4-11, 2000.
To apply, students should contact their high school principal or Carolyn Mauer at the Idaho Department of Education in Boise, (208) 332-6974.
