If God indeed helps those who help themselves, the women of Christ Kitchen are on the right track.

Through the Spokane program, low-income women learn job skills by packaging a line of food mixes ranging from cocoa to corn bread to a pair of bean soups: a seven-bean Blessed Bean Soup and a 12-bean Disciple Soup.

So count your beans, and your blessings.

Price: Soup mixes, from $3 to $7, depending on size and variety.
