Idaho big-game hunting

Public comment on proposed Idaho hunting seasons for deer, elk, mountain lion and black bear are scheduled this week in North Idaho.

The state Fish and Game Department will take public comment from 7-9 p.m. as follows:

Wallace High School Auditorium on Wednesday.

Bonners Ferry Fire Hall on Thursday.

Coeur d’Alene’s Lake City High School on Thursday.

St. Maries Eagles Hall on Thursday.

Proposals would return to the traditional either-sex deer season. Antlerless deer hunting was restricted in 1998 to allow deer numbers to recover from harsh winters.

A four-week extension of the bear season in Units 7 and 9 is proposed. Mountain lion season could open two weeks earlier, on Aug. 30.
