Shelley Olson’s layup with 8 seconds left helped Weber State beat Eastern Washington 48-45 in Big Sky Conference women’s basketball Friday in Cheney.
EWU trailed 44-37 with 4:56 remaining in the game, but a pair of Lyndy Burgess layups sparked an 8-2 run to pull the Eagles within 46-45 with 1:54 left.

Cougs’ Dietel out for season
Washington State women’s basketball forward Alke Dietel, the Pacific-10 Conference’s third-leading scorer, underwent reconstructive knee surgery Friday and will miss the remainder of the season.
