Farmers’ Markets
Produce expected to be available this week at area farmers’ markets (depending on weather; shop early for best selection):
Spokane MarketPlace (Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., DeSmet and Ruby): Spring greens, radishes, green onions, herbs, wild mushrooms, sprouts, rhubarb, asparagus, English cucumbers, green beans.
The New Farmers’ Market (Wednesday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., First Covenant Church parking lot at Second and Division in Spokane): collards, kale, salad mix, mustard (red and green), spinach, rhubarb, watercress, lettuce, mizuna, morel mushrooms, fresh herbs, edible flowers, bedding plants, fruit/berry bushes, honey.
Kootenai County Farmers’ Market (Wednesday, 5 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Highway 95 and Prairie Avenue in Coeur d’Alene): spicy greens mix, lettuce mix, edible flowers, fresh cut herbs, herb plants, radishes, green onions, romaine lettuce, green leaf and red leaf lettuce, endive, kale, Swiss chard, bok choy, rhubarb, asparagus, baby spinach, spinach, hothouse tomatoes.
Farmers’ Market at Sandpoint (Wednesday, 3 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to noon, at Farmin Park, Third and Main): assorted lettuces, salad mix, radishes, garlic greens, baby onions, bok choy, assorted herbs, rhubarb, asparagus, spinach.
