Body Found In Fishtrap Lake

Divers pulled the body of a drowned teenager from Fishtrap Lake on Sunday.

Spokane County Sheriff spokesman Dave Reagan said the county’s rescue team found the body in 25 feet of water.

The name of the deceased, who apparently drowned Saturday afternoon while attempting to swim across the narrow lake, was not released. The Lincoln County Sheriff is investigating the incident.

Fishtrap is about 35 miles southwest of Spokane near Sprague, Wash.

A pair of Whitman County teenagers are missing and presumed drowned at Rock Lake in northwest Whitman County.

“The problem is that the water in local lakes this time of year is 50 or 60 degrees,” Reagan said. “You don’t have to be in it very long at those temperatures before you become hypothermic, which affects your brain and your judgment.”
