KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has ordered a a mix of nine Boeing 747s and next-generation Boeing 737s. Sale figures were not announced, but the list price on the planes would amount to $915 million. Also, Singapore has purchased eight Apache attack helicopters from U.S. aircraft maker Boeing Co., state television reported Monday. Earlier reports estimated the purchase to be worth as much as $620 million.
Albertson’s Inc. reported a 10 percent increase in 1998 profits on Monday, marking the 29th consecutive year that the Idaho-based food and drug retailer has seen earnings rise. The company reported net profits of $567.2 million on sales of $16 billion during the 12 months that end Jan. 28. That compared with earnings of $516 million on $14.7 billion in sales a year earlier.
