Two Eagles All-Big Sky
Eastern Washington University’s Shannon Taylor was selected to the Big Sky’s All-Conference men’s basketball team and Deon Williams earned a honorable mention All-Big Sky selection.
Taylor, a 6-foot-3 senior guard from Fresno, Calif., has been Eastern’s leading scorer in 11 of the team’s last 13 games and a total of 17 times in 26 games this season. He is 99 of 255 from 3-point range, breaking school and conference records.
For the season, he averages a team-leading 16.5 points and stands third on the team in rebounding with 5.3 per game.
Taylor has 175 career 3-pointers to break the school record of 164 set by Justin Paola from 1990-92.
Taylor’s 442 attempts also is a school record, breaking the record of 436 set by Paola.
Taylor is EWU’s first player to have seven 3-pointers in at least three games, hitting that mark five times in his career.
Williams, a 6-foot-2 junior point guard from Los Angeles, is averaging 11.0 points and a conferenceleading 5.3 assists per game.
He has overcome a slow start to compile impressive numbers in the last 17 games. He has averaged 11.2 points and 5.6 assists while making 72 of 152 (47.4 percent) shots from the field. He has 302 assists (5.7 per game) to rank seventh on Eastern’s career list.
Weber State’s Harold Arceneaux was named conference MVP. The full team is listed in the Stat Sheet.
All-Big West
Idaho’s Avery Curry was named to the All-Big West first team. Roberto Bergersen, who led the Big West in scoring with 22.3 points a game for Boise State, was named the conference’s player of the year.
