Nic Splits Doubleheader
Big Bend Community College won its first-ever women’s softball game Tuesday, a 7-6 win over North Idaho College in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Cardinals came back to shut down Big Bend in the second game, 8-3. NIC coach Don Don Williams said the Cardinals played with more intensity in the second game and shut Big Bend down on offense.
High school baseball
Registration for the Post Falls American Legion baseball program will be held tonight.
The meeting will be at American Legion Post 143 on Highway 41, beginning at 7. All eligible players and a parent are asked to attend.
The A head coaching job is also open. Anyone interested is asked to call Darren Taylor (773-6952).
Golf
The University of Idaho senior Brian King took medalists honors and the Vandals finished sixth out of nine teams at the Sacramento State Invitational at the Ranchero Murieta Country Club.
King shot 227 with rounds of 78, 71 and 77. UI sophomore Ryan Benzel, of Ritzville, finished ninth with a 235.
Santa Clara won the team title with a 949, followed by Portland at 936. Idaho finished with a 949.
