Lifeguard/Instructor

Anyone with thoughts of being a lifeguard or water safety instructor this summer would benefit from a class conducted by the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department April 5-9 in the Shadle Park pool.

Classes will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Candidates for lifeguard training must be 15-1/2 years old at the time of enrollment and those for water safety instructor must be 17.

Cost is $65 for the lifeguard training, $75 for water safety instructor; American Red Cross books are extra. Those who successfully complete the course receive certification and qualify for possible employment in the parks department’s aquatics program.
