Overpass Damaged By Logging Equipment

From Staff

A freeway overpass was damaged Tuesday when it was struck by a piece of logging equipment being hauled on a trailer.

Kelly F. Scott, 36, of St. Maries, was pulling the trailer along Interstate 90 about 6 a.m. when the logging machinery hit the Government Way overpass, the Idaho State Police said. Damage to the overpass was estimated at $130,000.

Police said Scott drove to the 15th Street off-ramp before stopping.

Scott was ticketed for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failing to report the collision, carrying a load exceeding height limits, having no proof of insurance and pulling an overweight load, the ISP said.
