State Representative Injured By Automobile

Democratic state Rep. Shirley Ringo was slightly injured when a car collided with hers while she was collecting her mail at the side of Moscow Mountain Road.

Ringo, 57, was taken to Gritman Medical Center, where she was treated and released Friday evening.

An Idaho State Police report said Ringo got out after pulling her Jeep off the westbound side of the road. But the Jeep was facing east with the headlights on when it was hit by a westbound car driven by Clayton Carlson.

Police said Carlson, 18, apparently was disoriented by Ringo’s headlights and hit his brakes before colliding head-on with the Jeep, pushing it into the freshman lawmaker.

Carlson also was treated and released from the local hospital.

An investigation was continuing.
