Chicken Dish Splits Panel

Rick Bonino Food Editor

While Marie Callender’s makes all sorts of frozen foods these days, it all began with pies.

So we weren’t surprised when the late Mrs. C’s successors slipped some fruit - specifically, pineapple - into their Chicken Teriyaki, one in a new line of frozen heat-and-serve skillet entrees and side dishes.

Members of The Spokesman-Review’s reader food panel split over the stuff, with some calling it satisfying and others deeming it simply too sweet and nowhere near true teriyaki.

Maybe Marie’s should stick to those chicken pot pies.
