New Park To Provide River Access

Shoshone County officials expect work to begin this fall on a new park that will provide access to the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River.

The five-acre county property is just upstream of the confluence of the river’s north and south forks at Enaville, Commissioner Jack King said this week. The project will be paid for with state waterways money, which comes from boat license taxes. Shoshone County usually sends its share of that money to neighboring counties because it has few lakes and rivers suitable for boating.

Some of this year’s waterways money will be spent to buy rock and gravel, and a road onto the property will be cut this fall, King said. Work will be completed next summer. The small park will include a picnic area and dumping station.
