Spokane Falls Chorus Wins Again
Life keeps getting sweeter for the Spokane Falls Chorus.
Two years ago, the vocal group became the first-ever Eastern Washington winner in the Sweet Adelines Northwest regional competition.
And last Saturday at the Spokane Opera House, the 65-member ensemble, under the direction of Mike Elliott, captured the crown again in its return to competition.
As 1998’s Northwest winner, the chorus sat out last year’s regional competition while it raised funds to attend the international competition last fall in Atlanta. The group placed 20th worlwide at that event.
This year’s chorus qualifies for the international competition in Portland in October 2001.
Based on its score last weekend, the group also may qualify as one of five choruses worldwide to compete at the International Education Seminar in San Antonio in July 2001.
Two quartets made up of Spokane Falls chorus members, JaZZmin and This Is It!, finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in a separate regional quartet competition last weekend.
