Zoo Changes Policies After Tiger Attack
The Parks and Recreation Department is implementing a number of changes to its Zoo Boise policies after a tiger attack that seriously injured one woman.
The department has started upgrading its tiger facility and has suspended all public behind-the-scenes tours for the time being.
Zoo officials are working on a number of new policies and procedures, including guidelines for carrying pepper spray, increasing staff numbers during public events and developing an evacuation plan in case of emergency.
Zoo officials have already installed mirrors for security viewing down the hallway and entry way of the tiger exhibit. They are working on installing three panic button alarms and safety door locks on guillotine doors.
