Born in 1954, adapted for American audiences two years later, Godzilla rates as one of the most enduring creations of post-World War II atomic frenzy. Reworked by Takao Okawara, “Godzilla 2000” is entertainingly campy, and it boasts special effects — even with the man in the rubber suit — that not that long ago would have been considered fairly impressive.
