She didn’t win Miss Teen USA, or even finish in the Top Ten.

But 15-year-old Shari Short of Bonners Ferry did win the Miss Congeniality award at the Miss Teen USA pageant in Shreveport, La., Saturday.

Short represented Idaho in the nationally televised contest. She won several scholarships in the state pageant, as well as the free trip to the national pageant and a generous shopping allowance.

For winning the title of the nicest teenager there, Short won a crystal trophy and $1,000. Short, a singer and song-writer, entered the pageant in hopes of furthering her musical career.
