Benewah County Plummer

The Lakeside High volleyball team’s first home game is at 6 tonight against Falls Christian Academy. The football team plays Clark Fork at 7 p.m. Sept. 8, with a community tailgate party prior to the game. The coaches encourage residents to attend the games and show their support for the teams.

Bonner County Sandpoint

County commissioners decided to transfer $13,000 from the juvenile detention budget to the sheriff’s budget to help pay for gas and repairs for the patrol cars. There would otherwise be only $6,000 to cover gas for the rest of the year. The $13,000 was supposed to go to a plan to jointly operate with the juvenile unit in Coeur d’Alene.

Boundary County Bonners Ferry

Mayor Darrell Kerby says people should be ready in case a fire starts near their home. “You need to have your own act together.” Be sure the family knows where to go and how to get there. Sheriff Greg Sprungl asks people to also be aware of neighbors with special needs, such as the elderly or handicapped.

Kootenai County Post Falls

Seal-coating the intersection of Poleline Road and U.S. Highway 41 along with the installation of stoplights will cause traffic delays through Friday. The Highway District asks people to drive slowly.

Latah County Moscow

After four months of delays on the highway from Moscow to Pullman, travelers had a break for a week. The delays began again this week as the $1.5 million resurfacing project started. It is expected to take about two months.

Shoshone County Pinehurst

Scouts will hold their annual yard sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at 301 S. Division St. Donations may also be left at the sale site. Money raised will help send Scouts to camp. Call (208) 682-2122 or (208) 786-1041.

Pend Oreille County Newport

The Pend Oreille County Conservation District is helping to gather grant application information for a bull trout habitat restoration project. Landowners, towns, counties, tribes and other organizations may apply for funding. Would-be applicants may call Steve Roberg at (509) 447-5370.

Whitman County Colfax

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life raised $22,600 for research. More than 360 people registered for the event, which was last week at Schmuck Park.

Lincoln County Libby

A free computer training course for low-income displaced homemakers or single parents will be at the Lincoln County campus. The class will run 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from Tuesday to Oct. 24 and is funded by a Carl Perkins Grant. To register, call (406) 293-2721.
