Flu Vaccine Clinics Set For Today
The Panhandle Health District is offering two flu vaccine clinics today at the Lake City Senior Center in Coeur d’Alene and the Post Falls Senior Center.
Both clinics will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The district will bill Medicaid and Medicare for patients of those programs. Others will be charged $10.
Public health nursing supervisor Marie Rau hopes that by the end of the month there will be vaccine for the general public.
This year, health providers nationwide have been short of the vaccine because manufacturers had trouble replicating one of the viruses. The district recommends that the following people get flu vaccines before January through March, the typical flu season:
People more than 50 years old.
Anyone with a long-term health problem such as heart disease, lung disease, asthma, kidney disease, diabetes or blood disorders.
Anyone with a weakened immune system.
Pregnant women who will pass the third month of pregnancy during the flu season.
People who provide essential community services.
Anyone who wants to reduce their chance of catching the flu.
