Two Developments Go Before Commission

The Kootenai County Commission will hold public hearings today for two major developments.

Both will be in Community Room 1A of the county administration building, 451 Government Way. Marshall Chesrown, developer of The Club at Black Rock, will ask the commission to alter his planned unit development to allow him to sell lots while he builds a golf course.

Earlier this year, the county approved Chesrown’s plan to build 381 homes, a world-class golf course, equestrian center and other amenities on about 650 acres near Rockford Bay.

However, Chesrown wants to change the project’s phases to allow him to sell homes faster. The Black Rock hearing will start at 4:30 p.m.

After that hearing, the commission is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. a second public hearing to consider the proposed Hauser Heights subdivision near Hauser Lake.

It would include 74 lots on 150 acres north of Highway 53 and west of the city of Hauser.

Rand Wichman, senior planner for the county, said the commission could decide both cases after listening to public testimony.

However, they could postpone those decisions until they meet on Dec. 20 for deliberations, Wichman said.
