Convict Admits Weapons Violation

From Staff

A convict has admitted in federal court he violated federal laws that prohibit felons from possessing weapons.

Timothy Wayne Hampton, 29, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon this month. He will be sentenced Feb. 26.

He was sentenced to prison in July after admitting that eight guns found in his Coeur d’Alene home belonged to him. Hampton was waiting to be assigned to a prison when Coeur d’Alene police stopped him on July 22 and found guns in his possession.

U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge earlier this year ordered Hampton to serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment, perform 150 hours of community service in lieu of a fine and take part in a drug treatment program.
