Nic Rides Bonner To Victory

Steven Bonner totaled game highs of 23 points and nine rebounds Wednesday to lead North Idaho College to an 89-65 non-conference men’s basketball win at Wenatchee Valley.

Bonner finished 10 of 15 from the field to guide the Cardinals’ 51 percent shooting. Bonner played less than 28 minutes.

Mark Brown led the Knights with 20 points, hitting 8 of 9 from the floor.

NIC won its ninth consecutive game.

Gonzaga 74, Montana 73

Jessica Malone had team highs of 26 points, nine rebounds and three assists before fouling out, and visiting Gonzaga rallied for a win over Montana in a non-conference game at Missoula.

Malone finished 8 of 19 from the field, with five 3-pointers, and 5 of 5 from the free-throw line.

The Grizzlies led 41-33 at halftime after hitting 6 of 11 3-pointers. Montana missed 10 of 14 3-point attempts after halftime.

Erin Bergman and Triana Allen combined to hit 10 of 19 field goals and 7 of 9 free throws for the Bulldogs.

GU was outscored by eight points at the line, but made six more field goals than the Grizzlies.

Moscow 55, Colville 45

Moscow chopped Colville in half during Wednesday’s Border League boys basketball home win.

The Bears hit 11 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Indians. Defense was a big factor, as Moscow held Colville to half the points it scored while defeating Coeur d’Alene 90-77 on Tuesday.

Colville dropped into a first-place tie with idle Lake City.

Wallace’s Stephanie Lavigne added nine rebounds and seven steals.

The Miners opened their season with a 27-point win at Potlatch. Wallace is off for two weeks.
