Laney Reaches G-Prep Record In Win Over Rogers

It was a short shot from the right baseline, but that was all it took.

Juliann Laney became Gonzaga Prep’s all-time leading scorer with her first basket as the Bullpups defeated Rogers 73-34 Friday night at Prep.

Laney finished with 13 points, seven steals and seven assists as she moved past former Prep and University of Washington standout Lisa Oriard to take over third place in Greater Spokane League career scoring.

Laney, a four-year starter, began the night tied with Oriard, who had 727 points in three years.

Katie Gillum had 11 points and 11 rebounds for Prep, and Alisa Lewis had 20 points and seven rebounds.

Rogers had 31 fouls and Prep hit 27 of 37 free throws.

At LC, Emily Westerberg made 10 of 13 shots to lead four players in double figures as the Bears capitalized on turnovers to defeat the Tigers.

Katie Rodgers added a season-high 16 points for CV.

Nichole Woodruff had a career-high 12 points off the bench for LC.
