Crisis Intervention Training Offered

From Staff Reports

The Women’s Center is offering a 30-hour training program on crisis intervention and victim support.

The classes are open to anyone but are a prerequisite for those who want to volunteer at the Women’s Center as victim advocates.

Classes focus on individuals in crisis, primarily as a result of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault. They also cover intervention techniques for family problems, substance abuse, suicide and depression.

Women’s Center staff members, as well as representatives from North Idaho Behavioral Health and Powder Basin Associates will lead the classes.

The first class will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Remaining classes will run each Tuesday and Thursday in February from 6 to 9 p.m. All sessions will be at Kootenai Medical Center.

For more information, call the Women’s Center at (208) 664-9303.
