Man Gets Four Years In Stabbing Case

A man has been sentenced to four years in prison for stabbing his former girlfriend.

Marvin Williams 58, pleaded guilty in October in connection with the Feb. 2, 1999, stabbing.

U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge sentenced Williams this week in U.S. District Court in Coeur d’Alene. The case was heard in federal court because Williams is a member of the Nez Perce tribe.

In sentencing Williams, Lodge said the four-year prison term was needed to protect society and to deter Williams and others from similar conduct.
