Sgt. Patrick Taylor Receives Top Badge
Army Sgt. Patrick T. Taylor, an infantry team leader assigned to the 35th Infantry at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii, has received the Expert Infantryman Badge.
The badge is the highest noncombat proficiency award for infantrymen and covers 17 specific skills, including rifle marksmanship, hand grenades, military intelligence, signal communications and antitank weapons. A 12-mile march with full combat gear completes the test.
Taylor is the son of Beverly Taylor of Coeur d’Alene.
Anthony L. Smith, son of Don Smith of Spokane and Marlene Nerson of Post Falls, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant in the Army.
Smith is a signal intelligence analyst assigned to the 732nd Military Intelligence Battalion at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii.
He is a 1992 graduate of Shadle Park High School in Spokane.
Army Pvt. Shayne W. Swenson, son of Donna Paulsen of Potlatch, recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Swenson, a 1999 Potlatch High School graduate, received instruction in physical fitness, map reading, weapons, tactics and first aid.
Army Pvt. Richard J. Puterbaugh, son of Ric Puterbaugh of Rathdrum and Miki Puterbaugh of Reno, Nev., has arrived at Fort Knox, Ky., to complete basic training.
He will receive training in military justice, drill and ceremonies, physical fitness, weapons and map reading.
Karleine M. Cramer, recently enlisted in the Air Force obligated reserve section to participate in the Reserve Officer Training Corps program through ROTC Detachment 905 at Washington State University and the University of Idaho.
She is the daughter of Melody Cramer and Phillip Vauthier, both of Post Falls, and graduated from Post Falls High School in 1998.
Air Force Airman Kaohilii N.E. Romualdo, son of Antoninette Samson of Kellogg, has graduated from the munitions systems apprentice course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
Romualdo, a 1999 Wallace High School graduate, received instruction in munitions operations, conventional and nuclear ordnance inventory management and accounting systems, publications utilization, and manual and automated files management.
