Votes

Here are some of North Idaho lawmakers’ votes in the past week:

Read their lips, lower timber taxes: A property tax cut for private timber land passed through the House Revenue and Taxation Committee with only four no votes, but all three North Idaho members voted no. They were: Reps. Charles Cuddy, D-Orofino; Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls; and Mary Lou Shepherd, D-Prichard.

Parental Consent: Legislation requiring parental consent for abortion easily cleared the House State Affairs committee, 18-2. Voting for the bill were Reps. June Judd, D-St. Maries; Jeff Alltus, R-Hayden; John Campbell, R-Sandpoint; and Jerry Stoicheff, D-Sandpoint.

Wildlife killed: A proposal to amend Idaho’s constitution to require a two-thirds majority vote in an election to pass an initiative involving wildlife regulations died in the House, where only a majority - not the required two-thirds - supported it.

Voting for the measure were Reps. John Campbell, R-Sandpoint; Charles Cuddy, D-Orofino; and Don Pischner, R-Coeur d’Alene. Voting against the measure were Reps. June Judd, D-St Maries; Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls; Wayne Meyer, R-Rathdrum; and Jerry Stoicheff, D-Sandpoint.
