Cda Seeks Designer For Nw Boulevard
The Coeur d’Alene City Council this week is expected to find a consultant to design improvements to Northwest Boulevard.
The council and Idaho Transportation Department have agreed to split the $5 million cost to widen and landscape Northwest Boulevard from the new Interstate 90 interchange to Sherman Avenue.
At the earliest, construction could begin in the summer of 2001. Both city and state officials want to complete the project by the end of that year to coincide with the anticipated completion of the new interchange.
If the council approves the search, the Coeur d’Alene Urban Renewal Agency, Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association and the Coeur d’Alene Planning Commission will have about three weeks to offer input in the plan, City Engineer Gordon Dobler said.
The requests for proposals would then be sent out for consultants to complete the design, which is expected to cost between $275,000 and $350,000, Dobler said.
Mayor Steve Judy said the city will be in contact with all property owners along the project to seek input. An announcement calling a meeting of those owners should be made soon.
