Summary: The Toreros (15-8 overall, 6-4 in the West Coast Conference) always play the Bulldogs (19-6, 9-1) tough - even in The Kennel, where GU has won 20 straight and 102 of 110 over the last nine seasons. The teams needed an overtime period to settle things in their first meeting this season, with the Zags prevailing 84-79 in San Diego. USD had three shots to win the game in the final seconds of regulation play, but could get nothing to drop. Richie Frahm, the second-leading scorer in the WCC (16.8 ppg), had 31 points in that one and will probably need another big effort tonight if GU hopes to retain its share of the conference lead. San Diego’s Dana White, who scored 16 in the first meeting, missed last Saturday’s 63-59 win over Santa Clara and his status for tonight’s game is still uncertain.
