Votes
Here are some of North Idaho lawmaker’s votes in the past week:
Legislating communication: Legislation requiring parental consent for abortion flew through the House with 53 yes votes and only 13 nos. The bill now goes to Gov. Dirk Kempthorne who said he would approve the bill in his State of the State address before the session began. All but two of North Idaho’s Representatives voted for the bill. Voting against the bill were Reps. Mary Lou Shepherd, D-Prichard; and Wayne Meyer, R-Rathdrum. Supporters included Reps. Jeff Alltus, R-Hayden; John Campbell, R-Hayden; Chuck Cuddy, D-Orofino; June Judd, D-St.Maries; Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls; Don Pischner, R-Coeur d’Alene; Jerry Stoicheff, D-Sandpoint.
Protecting kids: Legislation banning firearms from school property passed unanimously through the House. The bill will now go to the Senate side for further review.
Timber tax rolling along: Legislation that would give the timber industry a break on taxes made it easily through the House this week. However North Idaho representatives were split. Voting for the bill were Reps. Alltus, Campbell, Meyer, Pinschner and Jim Clark, R-Hayden. Opposing the legislation were Reps. Cuddy, Judd, Kellogg, Shepherd and Stoicheff.
