Man Killed Skiing Was From Spokane

A skier who died at Schweitzer Mountain Resort on Sunday has been identified as Michael Kazuba, 43, of Spokane.

He was pronounced dead after apparently losing control and hitting a tree, according to the resort.

Kazuba was skiing on the “White Lightning” trail around 11 a.m., said marketing director Ingrid Campbell.

Ski patrol members responded, trying to keep Kazuba alive with first aid.

An autopsy at the Bonner County corner’s office is scheduled for today.
