Soccer Choice Narrows

U.S. Soccer Federation officials apparently have narrowed the field of candidates to replace U.S. women’s national team coach Tony DiCicco to two. They are University of Portland men’s and women’s coach and U.S. Olympic men’s team coach Clive Charles, and University of Virginia women’s coach April Heinrichs, captain of the 1991 Women’s World Cup-winning side.

A major problem facing any new coach is the desire of the U.S. Federation to dismantle the team that has several aging team members.
