Museum Attains Highest Honor
The Idaho Historical Museum has been reaccredited by the American Association of Museums in attaining the highest honor such an institution can receive.
Accreditation certifies that a museum operates according to standards set forth by the museum profession, manages its collections responsibly and provides quality service to the public.
The Idaho Historical Museum was one of the first west of the Mississippi River to receive accreditation when it was granted the certification in 1970. It operates as a division of the Idaho Historical Society.
Preparation for reaccreditation included a year of self-study and an on-site review by a team of museum professionals.
The museum’s next major event will be to host the national traveling exhibit “Anne Frank: A History for Today” from Jan. 17 through March 5.
