Driver Cited After Car Hit By Train

From Staff Reports

A Sandpoint teenager was cited with failure to stop at a railroad crossing after her Ford Festiva was struck by a train Wednesday.

Tiffany N. Partain, 17, of Sandpoint, and her passenger, Byron G. Ells, 24, were treated and released at an area hospital.

Partain was traveling eastbound on Kootenai Cutoff Road around 4:30 p.m., according to the Idaho State Police. She failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the railroad crossing and was struck in the driver’s side by a southbound Union Pacific train, the ISP said.
