Appointment Expected Soon For New 1St District Judge

Gov. Dirk Kempthorne is expected to appoint a new 1st District Court judge soon.

On Wednesday, Kempthorne met with the four finalists for retiring Kootenai County Judge Gary Haman’s position, said Mark Snider, Kempthorne’s press secretary.

The finalists are 1st District Magistrate Barbara Buchanan, Coeur d’Alene attorney Ken Howard, 1st District Magistrate John Luster and Coeur d’Alene attorney John Mitchell.

While Snider said the office hasn’t put a deadline on the decision, an appointment is expected in a few days.
